Earth Logic Design: a new language for a sustainable future.
A film series for Linnaeus University's Earth Logic Design research project — exploring how design, art and culture can act as a strategic force for a sustainable and just transition. Featuring Earth Logic founder Kate Fletcher, and published in the university's design portfolio.
The film series
The project: Earth first
Earth Logic rests on a simple but radical idea: the Earth comes first — before profit, before growth, before everything else. The research project asks what design, policy, education and business would look like if they started from that logic: not improving individual products, but changing the system and the culture underneath it.
The approach — camera and colour
Research communication only works if the ideas stay in focus. Two deliberate choices shaped the series:
Focus on the speaker. Interviews were shot as medium shots at wide apertures — a shallow depth of field that isolates each researcher from the background and keeps the attention on what they are saying.
A grade drawn from nature. The series was graded in a teal-and-orange palette taken directly from the project's own logic: warm orange for the Earth — soil and clay — and cool teal for life and nature.
